I watch over a vision
That I can't quite see
Imagining in my mind
Just how it might have been
A young boy lies dying
His family all around
Saddened with grief
That no cure could be found
His mother trying to stay so strong
Love shining from her eyes
His father hiding his anger
At the cruelness of this life
Other family members
Scattered around the dying boy
All of them wishing
For the miracle that won't unfold
Hoping for unseen angels
That will make this easier
For the little guy lying there
And his death that should not be
Unfortunately for the family
Watching this tragic scene
Their sadness just begun
Will continue indefinitely
The signs that death is near
Awakens in their mind
A desperate wish quietly voiced
That the child stays by their side
The tears now flow
In a wave of painful grief
As the child passes peacefully
Into his forever sleep
The family glances at each other
Their faces filled with pain
Denial and shock surrounding them
Watching the silent boy where he lays
Each says goodbye
In their own sad and loving ways
Offering comfort to each other
Wondering what they should say
A mother cries herself to sleep
A father wishes he could too
A saddened lonely brother
Wants his brother to stay and play
Everyone that witnessed it
Feels the emotion in their heart
Each a little scared
Of a disease that can't be faught
I let my tears fall free
From this vision of pain and grief
Maturing and somewhat older
Loving warmth for the family
~~Dedicated to a
friend who lost her little boy to a brain
tumor~~
