Watching the clouds swirl
Gathering
Getting ready for a flood
Thunder, lightning
Lighting the sky
With fascination
Lingering childhood fear

From the storm drawing near
Feeling the first drops
The dry parched earth
Almost sighs in relief
As the promise
Of the skies
Delicious rain filled treat
The wind is howling
Shaking the leaves
Blowing around dirt
And any forgotten debris
The heavy clouds
Now ominous over us
Drench everything
As the rain pours non stop
The rumbling sound loud
Compliments the slashes of light
Our hearts are thumping
Exhilaration shines from wild eyes
We feel zen with the storm
Brewing high in the sky
The rains slowing down
The rumbling and lightning
Quieter now
The danger fading away
As the storm carries on
Moving across the sky
To delight another dry town
We can smile our thanks
Now that we're safe
The wind is gentler
The air feeling cooler
The grass lush and wet
The storm almost over
We dance in the puddles
Enjoying the last few rain drops
Celebrating that moment
When the earth and the sky
Connected as one
Leaves us feeling unfettered
Like that ferocious rain song
